Dan is a 1980 graduate of American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service in New York and has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer in the state of Connecticut since 1983. He sought to continue his knowledge and attained his Certified Funeral Service Practitioner status (CFSP) in 2005. Dan has taught non-credit courses at local Universities and has been visited by local Milford High School students to explain funeral service practices and curriculum for several years. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Funeral Director Association (Ethics Committee) as well as a Practical Embalming Examiner for the State of Connecticut. He has been contacted by legal council for funeral service litigation to serve as an expert witness. Dan is a longtime Milford resident, an active community member and volunteer of Milford and surrounding communities, his past and present involvement includes Milford’s Veterans Graves Commission, Board of the YMCA, Bethel Shelter, Milford Fine Arts Council, Adjutant and Chaplain for the Sons of the American Legion Milford Post 196, Chaplain for the American Legion Riders, Past Officer of Ansantawae Lodge #89, current member of St. Mary Church of Milford, former member of St Agnes Church, Holy Name of Jesus Church, Stratford, Milford Elks , Shriners and former Kiwanis of Fairfield. He and his wife Paula Sanderson Sefcik, who is an active volunteer and member of the Milford community herself, is an integral part in serving families with compassion in attending too families needs at a most difficult time.
